In conjunction with iGov Survey, Lexmark recently conducted a survey into the use of Print & IT Applications within Education to identify how schools, colleges and universities were using their print infrastructure and whether they were taking advantage of any productivity boosting applications to save time and money.  You can read the results of this survey here. 

Over 250 participants completed the survey from 242 different schools, colleges and universities throughout the UK, answering questions about their use of print devices and IT applications that assist them with their workload. 

Key highlights from the results of the survey include:

• About 88% of participants only use their printer to print or photocopy despite the applications available that can be added to help make administrational workflows more efficient.
• Less than 30% of participants use print management applications to monitor and allocate spend.
• Only 3% of participants use a mobile print application despite over half of participants saying their educational institution allows a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy.
• About 35% of participants would like to know more about automatic  marking, such as Lexmark’s Hosted Testing and Grading solution.

What’s clear from the survey is that there’s significant scope for schools, colleges and universities to maximise their print infrastructure and capitalise on applications available to optimise existing practices to help teaching staff focus on what they do best, teaching.
