Overview of Legislation

Senate Bill 2313 was signed into law and went into effect on January 1, 2010. The law requires manufacturers to provide Illinois household consumers with free collection and recycling of covered electronic devices (computers, computer monitors, televisions and printers).

Overview of Legislation

Under Maine’s household television and computer recycling law, consumer in Maine can return their unwanted covered devices to their local municipality. Manufacturers are responsible for the costs associated with the proper recycling of the returned products returned to the municipalities.

We encourage all of our customers to recycle their used electronics. All waste computer monitors, portable computers, digital picture frames, televisions, portable DVD players, desktop printers, and video game consoles generated by households in Maine must be recycled. Please contact your local municipality for information about how and where to recycle your e-waste in your area. On January 9, 2017, Governor Christie signed legislation that revised certain requirements of the State’s electronic waste management program under the “Electronic Waste Management Act” P.L.2007, c.347 as amended by P.L. 2008 c.130 and P.L. 2016, c.87 (N.J.S.A. 13:1E-99.94 et seq.) (the Act). 

The collection services provided to the citizens of New Jersey will be for all covered electronic devices (CEDs), including orphan devices, though some collection sites will also collect non-CEDs. No brand limitations will be placed on the service. No citizen will be charged a fee for dropping off a CED or other accepted devices.

The NYS Electronic Equipment Recycling and Reuse Act (Article 27, Title 26 of the Environmental Conservation Law) was signed into law by the Governor on May 28, 2010. The law will ensure that every New Yorker will have the opportunity to recycle their electronic waste in an environmentally responsible manner. The law requires manufacturers to establish a system for the collection, handling, and recycling or reuse of electronic waste. Manufacturers of covered electronic equipment (CEE) are responsible for implementing and maintaining an acceptance program for the discarded electronic waste, with oversight by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation.

Overview of Legislation

Wisconsin’s electronics recycling law, WIS Solid Waste Reduction, Recovery and Recycling Statutes Chapter 287.17, establishes a statewide program to collect and recycle certain electronics. Under this product stewardship-based law, manufacturers of TVs, computers, monitors and desktop printers must register with the Department of Natural Resources the brands they sell to Wisconsin households and schools. Those manufacturers also must recycle a target weight of electronics each year based on their sales. Manufacturers contract with state-registered recyclers and collectors to meet their targets. This manufacturer-funded recycling program is called E-Cycle Wisconsin. 

E-Cycle Wisconsin launched in January 2010, followed by a ban on disposing of many types of electronics in Wisconsin landfills and incinerators that took effect Sept. 1, 2010. For more information about the program and its results, visit the DNR's electronics recycling webpages.

Free Recycling of End-of-life Lexmark Printers

As a provider of printing solutions including inkjet, laser, and all-in-ones, Lexmark shares in the environmental responsibility for those products at the end-of-life. Lexmark offers customer an environmentally responsible choice for disposal of their end-of-life printers - the Lexmark Equipment Collection Program.

Through this program, customer may return any end-of-life Lexmark branded products, and Lexmark will recycle the equipment for free. This program does not apply to warranty issues for Lexmark printers. For warranty exchange or service for a printer still under warranty, please follow the instructions included with the product.

Collection Methods

You can return your end-of-life Lexmark printer or other Lexmark hardware including service parts to Lexmark by whatever shipping method is most convenient to you. Please ship your printer hardware to the following address:

You may use your new printer's packaging material to return your old Lexmark printer otherwise please consider locally recycling the material if facilities exist in your area. If not you may return the packaging material from your new Lexmark printer or other Lexmark hardware including service parts to Lexmark by whatever shipping method is most convenient to you.
