JOHANNESBURG, 15 August 2015
As part of an ongoing social responsibility drive titled “SHE Means Business”, employees at Lexmark South Africa collected and donated blankets to the Olivers House charity foundation for Olivers Village. A self-contained sustainable community in the heart of Benoni.
SHE Means Business is a Lexmark South Africa initiative which was formed to unite Lexmark women. The acronym SHE stands for Strong, Honorable and Expressive women who Mean Business. The initiative aims to inspire, motivate and encourage women to invest time and skills by empowering other women through social events, awareness programs and community projects.
The winterdrive for Olivers Village is one of many initiatives the employees at Lexmark will be involved in over the coming months.
Olivers Village is a sustainable development project which when completed will be a fully self-contained, self-sustaining community orientated provider of social services. Olivers Village already has an HIV/Aids clinic; Photovoltaic electricity sub-station; borehole water; an organic farm as well as a teaching centre.
“The winterdrive was a huge success as an initiative that gives back to the community,” says Nathan Nayagar Managing Director for Lexmark - South Africa & English Speaking Africa. “Initiatives such as this are essential to ensuring that charities such as Oliver’s Village are able to reach their aim of contributing to the advancement of the disadvantaged people in their community.”
Lexmark South Africa believes in operating their business in a manner that results in a better world by focusing on people, the planet and the communities in which they live and work. The vision and mission of non-profit organisations like Olivers House ties in well with this. As they strive to maintain best practices for sustainability, Lexmark’s commitment to corporate social responsibility is global in reach, balancing economic, environmental and social concerns.
